Daging Masak Kicap (Beef stew in soy sauce)

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri,
Happy Eid Mubarrak..

to all muslim around the world

some part celebrate today, 30th August other part celebrate tomorrow on 31st.
Me? surely i will follow the earlier.. :-)

Hari Raya won't be perfect without home cooking meaty food,
and this moment I celebrate alone in Kuala Lumpur. No family around, no mom's cook, and no all the chaos-crowd at home... not bad though..
My Boss let me home early for cooking (where actually end up with I hang around in shopping mall buy nothing, rather than start defrost all the meat)

think about rendang and ketupat, but oh my...
what a mess.. too many ingredient to remember, also not a warranty for creating a good taste.. lol

daging masak kecap sounds safer, hearty, but less greasy..
in Indonesia we call it semur daging  in Malaysia we call daging masak kicap
my version is simplified to make it easier to cook (less headached)

I love the sweetness from soy sauces infused into soft potatoes. You don't even need much rice to serve with, because the potatoes already filling up.

not a perfect Festive Season, but not bad...

God give me far better present in other way..

Happy Idul Fitri,
look forward to see Ramadhan again next year..

What a nice life..
I won't complain for all the "life gift"  you send to me :-)

Dreaming vs Planning

Some people talk about dream passionately,
I talk about planning seriously

When they start use lot of wonderful words to describe how wonderful their dream are,
I start write time line and make preparation to get along with my plan.

When they mentioned my name in their dream,
I translate it as we make a  plan

When they use a fruitful words and still mentioned my name,
I start wrote our time line and make preparation about us

then I realized,
they just describe their random wandering dream
where they never know how sure they gonna make it, and when they gonna start it

Still I translate it as 99% going to be happen

now I understand why people call me stupid....
because i don't know the difference between dream and plan

after 18 years old I dream no more,
I only have plan... (except my dream about weight loss and have size 6)

Ben's Cafe Pavilion,

Pavilion Shopping Centre,
Kuala Lumpur

never knew they have this kind of restaurant, mixed of Malay, Western and Italian food.
I roam to Bukit Bintang and Pavilion to often, but always end up in some steak house or star bucks.

Ramadhan, days ... (I don't know)
do not really count it...

Friday Night, after work we meet for break fasting. I was not sure what Ben's restaurant like,
I saw one in KLCC but i have no idea what is the menu look alike..

Nice Cappuccino, I just need bigger cup (same size with my Disney cup at least)

coke for them...

the crowd,
enjoying their meal..

my besties..

I'm alone, my panda is far away there...

Siti has her nasi ulam,
Delicious Malay food

Reza's steak
nice and succulent, not a jumbo size but taste great..
(that is me.. always want big size, because I am big eater)

My Nachos,
same shape and arrangement like what i had in Social, Bangsar Village.
But no meat at all here, where The Social's Nachos has plenty meat inside.
MYR 14.00++ (Social MYR 28.00++)

Creative way to write complimentary & complaint

less crowd when we order dessert,
everybody has gone for prayer

last touch,
dessert

don't ask me what is the name, it taste like carrot cake, covered by caramel sauces
and toped by vanilla ice cream.

Taste great, not too sweet and creates good joke.
Was a fun evening, a great way to spend Friday Night...

Happy weekend....!

Appreciating Day Off

While everybody stuck in office shit...

we even didn't shower that day...

spend whole morning lie on couch and watch cooking channel,
waiting Mr. Fadly & Fika online to do online meeting...
(no animal planet today)

While everybody half die  lost their brain and shortage of idea
what to do to handle my work..

I was too busy choose the corner to put our stuff..

 watching hot stuff around us..

free big smile anytime....
*yaiy.. i don't have to think about work this afternoon....!!!!

swam across the universe, in a longest swimming pool i ever tried

chilled beverage from local grocery...

one or two row..

lazy, chit-chat, rambling, drinking,
gossiping...

Feel bit guilty about everybody in office who half crazy took care my  dirty job,

while I'm lying under palm trees and umbrella, dappled sunlight trough the branches..

enjoy the warm breeze and my quiet afternoon...

I'M SO SORRY GUYS,
I'M ON LEAVE TODAY, SEE YOU TOMORROW.....

Bakwan Sayur (vegetable fritter)

Malaysia call it Cucur, cengkodok.
Indonesia call it bakwan, badak (east Java)
Engrish call it fritter

I call it...
hmmm... as long as it taste good, then eat.
Don't bother what we call it.

A very popular snacks among Malaysians,
we have it for morning breakfast, or afternoon tea, or just evening snacks...

I love the bite size fritter rather than big one like what we used to found in street stalls. And street stall's fritter usually fried with an "old" oil which already change the colour.. (more like lube oil rather than canola)

force me to learn about how to make my fave' snack myself.

it took me sometimes to make me able fried the batter in a good round shape...

I got the recipe from here, but change the some of the spices...
I add extra pepper powder to replace the chili paste.
and no turmeric powder added.

fried till golden brown and crispy...  oooouuwwwwhhh....

if you noticed i still use the sachet style of chili sauces. I found it taste better than the bottle one.
I always get fresh opened sauces every time I want to eat something (If you notice, your chili sauces will taste different after opened more than 1 week)

Ha ha,
that's me, pretend to care about the taste. Main reason was :
1. I can't make a "cute" curly shape using sauces from bottle
2. That is the only sauces I have tonight, the sauces from bottle which i keep in the fridge are too tough to spoon out.

LOL...

Satay Ayam (skewered grilled chicken)

did I translate the food name in English correctly?
I hope so...

even not so correct, I think you will understand what I mean..
ain't you?

one of the most popular food in Asia,
you can find either in bazaar, market, restaurants or even just on the street stall.. EVERYWHERE
In Kuala Lumpur, a stick of Chicken Satay cost RM 0.50,
I bought 10 sticks today, with rice cakes..

Talk about chicken satay, different place has different way to cook and taste.
Like in Indonesia,
we famous with Sate Ayam Madura (Maduranese Chicken Satay) where they grilled fresh chicken meat, and served with peanut sauce with excessive sweet soy sauce..

In Malaysia,
they marinade the meat in some sweet stuff before grilled.
So, the chicken itself already taste sweet even before we dip into peanut sauces..
never seen the seller add any extra sweet sauce into it...
still with the original yellow-brownish sauces

dip to sauces before eat..

can you see shiny caramelized glaze covering the meat?

Indonesian chicken satay doesn't have those kind of colour...

which one i like better ?
I love both...!!

don't asked me about the recipe, surely I don't know how to make it...
even if I know the theory, I don't have patience-give to make me sit, cut the meat into cube, marinated, arrange in skewer, fire a charcoal, and grill..

too much effort for lazy ass like me, I would buy in Bazaar Ramadhan if I want it :)
find the recipe here

Break Fasting with Siti

done with IELTS test..

was get up too early these morning, 5.00 am
same wake up time with when i need to catch early morning flight.

Yes, I need to reach British Council before 8.00 am,
otherwise i will late.

Exam wasn't as hard as I thought,
even I feel easier. Maybe because I'm lucky, or because I think nothing about work. The only moment I don't like was, when the group of Iranian women arrive. When they reach the exam place, they start talk loudly.
As loud as  ho**y monkeys in Jungle tried to attract the males. Gosh...!!!!

I don't mean to be racist, but only them who loves to talk really loud inside of the exam places. Even between the exam time. The examiner has to remind them quiet and warn to kick them out if they don't stop talking.
(I will be happy if they out from exam place, their loud voice makes me hard to focus on my paper)

After exam nothing i could think except runaway home and sleep.
And get ready to have break fasting with Siti, old friend from old school..

We should met and catch up before Ramadhan watch football together, but that time i have to stay work till very late. And missed the chance to meet her. So, today is the payback of my meeting "debt"

little bit messy with misunderstood of some people,
spread our "threesome" meeting into whole Battalion, but didn't turn up... Maybe they have their own reason translated all of this. I don't know, I'm not smart reading someone's mind.

Anyway, who cares.. My main intention is meet Siti, and catch up with her.
The rest can join if they like, and please remind quiet if not interested. SIMPLE LIKE THAT

We free to decide where we go,
we change to seafood steamboat finally..

here is she with her new blonde hair..

I knew about these steam boat for long, but never been here because the place are quite far from KL city.
hardly access by public transport.

food spread..

All about seafood...

and seafood...
all fresh and wide range..

I was too hungry, and too busy play around with the "cooking" section.
Can't be bother take to move around and take picture of the whole restaurant.

her again,

I forgot take my own pict :-(

the result of my cooking...
only now I realize i should bring the scallop shell home, to make wind chime..

look cool isn't it..?

spread of the noddle.. (not for me)

spread of traditional Malay "kuih" or cakes..
for break fasting
I love the red colour cakes with lot of shredded coconut.. (don't know what's the name)
I might ate 6 or 7 of it :D

spread deep fried stuff...
Yumm and sore throat..

keep cooking Siti,
i will take your picture before you change your hair colour again tomorrow..

our table spread..

the crab..

I don't know how to eat them, haha...
I ate crab meat from the can, but never really touch the fresh from shell..
try to cracked here and there, with lot of effort..
but I only got very small stuff to eat..
drive me mental..!

yummy baby octopus..
can't stop eat them..!

billing time,
very affordable..!

And time to go home,
I stay in Siti's place tonight, lazy to go home.
Sharon is in China, she will only back next week. Guarantee I will stay alone if I sleep in my own apt.

"Desperates Housewives"  time..

coffee-ing, chit-chat-ing, and relaxing after fill up the stomach with many kind of sea creatures.
I think it's time to go to sleep...

NO...

we need to go out for late supper...
and driving around watch people on the street...

Siti..
thanks for spare your time, do not work, do not travel,
and stay in KL just to meet and spend time with me..

It is really nice  and I had a great time :)
