Ginger Syrup Drink (Also To Improve Fertility)

Siapa suka minum air halia (jahe)...?

ME ME ME ME
*tunjuk tangan

I love warm ginger drink so much,
terkadang in one week I can finish up to 1 Kg ginger.
(Boleh bayangkan kos membeli halia tu memang kena masuk dalam monthly expenses)

Everyone has different calming drink/food to reduce their stress.
Kalau lepas balik kerja, penaaaaaaat gila....., lepas naik KTM yang gila sesak,
sambung naik RapidKL yang banyak aroma *wooopsss.... I shouldn't complaint...

bukan complaint laiye...
ni just nak telling the story to let you imagine the feeling... haha

Balik rumah je,
potong ginger, masak air panas, rebus sekali.
Then add in honey or lemon.
Drink slowly....                    WAH..... MEMANG LAH

My then boss taught my officemate how to make fertility drink, which I stalked their conversation and listen carefully.

Kupas dan cacah 500gr Ginger (Malaysia, halia bentong is the best. Indonesia Jahe emprit is the best)

Mix with 1/3 cup honey. Madu brand apa saja is fine. Masukkan dalam mangkuk tahan panas, kemudian kukus selama 30menit.

Dinginkan, dan pindah kedalam wadah tertutup. Simpan dalam fridge (peti sejuk/kulkas).

Jika ingin membuat, campur 1sdm ginger mix dengan 1 cup air panas. Tambahkan gula, madu atau lemon sesuai selera.

Home Made Milk Soap

Plenty reason why our skin dry too fast even we put a lot of lotion after shower,
plenty reason why our skin look dull and by the end it wrinkle fast.

Dove telling us even baby soap contain lot lot lot of chemical, how about Dove itself?
Same-same.... lol

Buy natural soap is expensive. Yes, it is...
Its about RM 20.00 to RM 39.00 per 100 grams.
Eikksss.... why so expensive la...
==> of course, the ingredient to make the soap is already expensive Olive Oil, Walnut, Avocado. You may check yourself the price in supermarket :-)

Lot of website teaching about how to make soap ourselves, but OMG what is LYE, what is trace, what is that.. I know nothing about chemical soap.

Buying my first milk soap making kit (RM 49.00) from http://www.soaplabmalaysia.com/ I made myself my first batch of milk soap. Where I made one full loaf (about 350 gram) milk soap.
It was not cute at all... kind of simple look and no perfume at all

This is my first soap I made from soap-lab soap making kit. Half recipe was with water, the other half was milk. After 45 days of curing, my mom tried the milk soap.

APPARENTLY SHE LOVE IT SO MUCH.
My mom mentioned that the milk-olive soap make her skin less dry and after one week it feel nicer and smoother.

Less wrinkly too...

After my first success milk soap and I have (at least one) regular customer who happily, willingly, and eagerly using my product I am confident to getting extra creative.

Instead of buying pre-mix soap ingredient, I able to made myself own concoction.

My recipe
Noted that I put Almond Oil, but I bought roasted walnut oil

LOL

measuring my Lye,
make sure that I got a right calculation, otherwise the oil would not turn into soap.

the mixture I use
Mistake : should freeze the milk into ice cube before mix with lye,
LYE + WATER = HEAT + TOXIC AIR
the heat damage the milk and turn into ugly yellow to orange
                                           (shouldn't happen)

Face mask, rubber gloves, Thermometer
IS A MUST
*make sure the ingredient is not more than 80C
and the difference between oil and lye is not more than 10C

The mixture of Shea butter, Walnut, Olive and
Sunflower oil.

I microwaved the mixture a bit to loosen the solid oil

Mix the Lye water and oil,
now the job start....

I don't have any electric mixer,
so I just use egg beater I bought from Daisho (RM 5 store)

OMG this job is sooooo labour intensive thing,
took me almost 2 hours of beating to create "light trace" before I able to pour them in the mold.

pour my soap in the silicone mold

I sprinkle some oat and sugar (how itchy my hand is)

By theory, I should able to cut my soap within 24-48 hours. But My soap was still too gooey when I touch it.
I leave it for extra 24 hours before start cutting with my bread cutter.

P.S USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN WE TOUCH THE MIXTURE.
I WASN'T WEAR IT AND  THE LYE RESIDUE LEAVE MY HAND ITCHY AND RED.

for 350 gram mold, I made about 6-7 soap bar.

Stamp it with my rubber stamp

NOT WORKING...!!

Leave them for at least 45 days for curing
(to let the NaOH disappear slowly,
and only left you a nice-bubbly-chemical free soap.

For baby use, leave for at least 90 days before use.

Soft Smooth Milk Soap for my satin smooth skin :-)

Jamu Kunyit Asam

an old Javanese herbal drink to ease your period pain

As Indonesian especially Javanese you will very familiar with word JAMU.
It's a local version of medicinal herbs concoction with variety taste from "OK to drink" up to bitter like sh*t

Kunyit Asam (Indonesian), Kunir Asem (Javanese) came from word Kunyit = Turmeric, and Asam = Tamarind which the main ingredient from this drink basically made from : fresh turmeric, tamarind, ginger and palm sugar.

It is a super powerful herbal drink is consumed for many purposed include:

1. Ease period pain
2. Clean up women's inner part (womb, vaginal, etc) from any infection
3. Reduce body odor, smelly sweat, and unpleasant smells from your period
4. It is work for after deliver mom too...

The fresh Ingredients

2 knob fresh old turmeric (Choose as old as you could, the older it has more turmeric-y taste)
1 knob fresh old ginger
2 table spoon fresh tamarind (I bought a wrong one, mine was tamarind mixed with salt) so I put less
2 table spoon palm sugar (or add more if you want sweeter)

1. Roast ginger and turmeric (I am too lazy to turn the oven on, end up with put them on fire)
2. Peel and slice, you will see the different between old and young turmeric. The young one has less yellowish colour.
3. Pound them
4. Add 2-3 glasses boiling water
5. Add in sugar and tamarind
6. Leave for couple minutes, strain and enjoy

I am enjoying this herbal drink so much...

We can also add some honey to add the benefit

DIY Waxing with Sugar Jam

I bought waxing kit from Instagram online shop: @baliratihmalaysia (PH: +60163886553)

I love to have myself hairless-clean, but apparently it is getting costly expenses if you do wax in salon in regular schedule. It is going to be about MYR 300- MYR 400 each 3 weeks.

My sister told me to give a try this product, which originally made in Indonesia.
Different with Veet wax strips, Sugar Jam made from sugar, honey and lemon

the package arrives in a thick bubble wrap to ensure the jar is safely send by post

the waxing kit content:

1 Jar sugar wax (250 ml) about 400 gram
2 wooden spatula
10 pcs washable waxing strips
direction to use and how to store

The thick sugar jam content
Different with DIY hair removal sold in Malaysia which light yellow and thin
Sugar Jam is quite thick, dark colour

I heat up in a boiling water for about 10 min.
Well, sugar jam can be use with or without heated up.
But I want the SPA feeling, so I prefer warm sugar wax

Soak in the boiling water to keep it warm.
And see the thick jam... hehehe..

Ready to wax...????

The pict I pick from the website cos I forgot to take my own...

but this is my waxing results...

picked to the root...

WAS IS PAIN..? NOT AT ALL COMPARED TO VEET WAX
DO I NEED TO PUT A LOT..?  JUST APPLY LITTLE AND MAKE SURE THE SKIN IS DRY AND CLEAN

again, the strips are washable. I just soak them in a tap water for 10 minutes to dissolve the sugar.
Then rinse
and wash them with a soft liquid detergent
rinse once more

you done.....

Hang them like how I did

and they are ready to use again... :)

SAVE A LOT OF BUCKS

Weekend Yang Lemau (Stale Weekend)

The Little pleasure of doing nothing

Do you ever feel that you have more than enough of something...? I do many times...
It was a hectic month at the office. Everything seems too much for me that time..
Went to office with scared feeling, nervous what crap going to happen once you clock the card...
Went back home already dark, super tired without energy... nothing much you can do but shower and sleep...

No quality life... #deepcrap

The only thing makes me bit smile is my order and my cargo.
I just back from KLIA yesterday with a big box on my hand with my full body scrubs. Excited finally my cargo arrive safely without any problem, yaiy...

Half of those belong to customers,
After finishing up the transaction I just want to sleep...

So yes, today is a weekend.. a time where I really look forward to.
Purposely I cancel all the invitation, say NO to annual dinner, say NO to meeting up friends, say NO to movie with the gang, NO to any shopping mall hopping...

NO FOR ANYTHING

I just want to stay at home and being myself..
To have quality time with myself...

Sorry all....

Stay at home in a quiet weekend...
In the rain...  I start to  finish up the packing.
Ready to send to post office on Monday

Then shower and cooking....

sambal kering tempe..
My fave..

*pls don't follow my recipe

then makan dengan nasi goreng panas

rasa...
huhuhu... entah...
x sedap langsung

My fave part when all the work done is warm and nice tea,
Wide open window with the noise from the rain
Jamie Oliver in cooking channel...

a little pleasure in my daily life

peeking at the hamper I received a while ago.
I am eyeing the lovely bath salt from Earthcaresoaps home made artisan soap.
I like her product, especially the body soap is made from real oil which leave my skin still moist after shower. Tonight is lavender foot soak time I guess...

Enjoy my tea, my tv and my foot soak
I can't complain more about it

Totally enjoyable

looking at my old photos
I miss her all of the sudden...

Ovale Lulur Bali

After experiencing the benefit of Ovale Lulur Bali exfoliates dead-skin and all the dirt.

There are 6 variant of Ovale Lulur Bali available in Malaysia

The picture I copy from Webstagram
and its 6 traditional body scrubs

Coffee

Ancient Javanese used to use ground coffee and tamarind (Asam Jawa) to scrub their body before the shower, this recipe was copied from the Royal Family where their maid prepared fresh body scrubs to rub over their body to keep the skin clean and fresh.

The mix of coffee ground and soft sandalwood aroma is always reminding me with the Balinese SPA in Mont Kiara. The difference is that now I need to pay nothing to enjoy it cos I am doing it at home :)

Honey Coconut

Chocolate

The concept of Honey Coconut and Chocolate almost similar, which giving a deep moisturizer while the scrubs exfoliate the dead skin. The difference is that Honey Coconut use coconut oil as a moisturizing agent, while chocolate use cocoa butter. We all know the great benefit of coconut oil and cocoa butter to our skin :)

Milk

Bengkoang / Yam Bean / Sengkuang

Milk and Bengkuang has a similar effect when they apply to our skin. In old day we used to grate yam bean to make yam bean paste and applied to our face after outdoor activity to prevent the skin getting darker from the sun.

Or our elder sister and aunties applied fresh milk to their body with baking brush, stand in front of table fan to make it dry before shower (*yes, they were really doing it in the old days).

Ovale lulur bali adopt the old-folks recipe to their modern body scrubs.
I am lucky that I don't have to brush my self with fresh milk.

Boreh

Boreh is a traditional Balinese Mixed Spice which then pounded, blended with olive or coconut oil which then rub over the body before a massage session. What I can remember from the aroma, boreh contain of a lot lot lot of ginger, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Boreh giving a warm sensation to our body.

Boreh spices together with massages will improve blood circulation, reduce the stress and give extra relaxation.

Here is the Malaysian seller for Ovale Balinese Scrub :  http://web.stagram.com/n/bali_lulur_my/
