Easy Steamed Fish

How much I have to pay to eat whole steamed sea bass in restaurant?
at least RM 35 just for the fish...
abihtu, nasi..? telor..? air..? kerupuk?
Tak berpasal habis seratus ringgit...

Tak berbaloi..?
Sangat tak berbaloi, kalau tiap hari macam ini boleh bengkrap mak...
Tak terbeli Kondo depan KLCC tu ye... lol

so yes, we cook our own steamed fish for the first time
We choose sea bass cos of less fishy and less bone around
.

We use perencah A1,
Brand A1 is good for their Chinese style cooking such as emperor chicken, chikuteh, and tea-egg.

We tried for our Thai-Style Steamed Fish
(Which I don't even know what is that, I thought steamed fish is steamed fish lol)

We go the fish cleaned from the supermarket assistant,
but we just re-check and make sure everything cleaned.

Cut all the fin.. and ready to go

The fish was too big, we need to cut into two to fit the bowl and steamer
Smear the seasoning,
Cover with cling wrap.
Steamed for 15-20 min

Forgive me bahagian ujung yang bonyak tu...
Kita tak tahu macam mana bentuk-bentuk fish yang sudah masak.
So, kopek sana sini, dan rasa... baru tahu tingkat kemasakan :P

garnish the fish with fresh coriander and spring onion.
I love the smells of fresh coriander lightly infused to the fish and gravy

Served with steamed rice and some vegetable for your fiber source.

not bad ya... ?
(self approval)

Easy Chicken Briyani

My jogging area

After 5 KM lazy run   slow run, I feel I deserved a pampered, spiced, herbed, high carb dinner *wink
(macam ini, kapan mau kurus kan...)

we've been collecting instant seasoning to make me cook-like-a-PRO too.
So that when my turn to cook, it wont keep repeat the stir fried this, and stir fried that (so far, that was my only cooking capability lol)

Using instant seasoning is bit costly compared to make the seasoning from scratch,
but it saves me from fail. And cooking our own food still much cheaper than take away briyani from Khaana Peena

Today, my instant seasoning target is Shan-Briyani instant seasoning.

Result :
I like Shan, the spices is generous.
No cooking oil and low salt. I can easily adjust the saltiness to my taste.

Ingredients of Briyani is very easy simple:
1 pack Shan briyani mix with 1/4 cup water
2 chicken tight, cut and pan fried
1 big onion, 5 cloves garlic => chopped
1 Potato (optional)
100 gr yogurt

1/4 cup coriander leaves
1/4 cup mint leaves

1 cup bhasmati rice, cook and cool down.

sauteed onion and garlic with 1 spoon cooking oil.
Add in briyani paste, stir for couple minutes.
Add in chicken, yogurt, boiled egg and water.

Cook until the liquid start dry up.
Pour the chicken to another bowl

Use up the pot.
Layered with little bit of liquid.

Spread half the rice
Cover up with the balance of chicken and liquid.

layer the remaining rice

sprinkle with mint leaves and coriander.
Cover, and cook again for 5 minutes.
until the bottom rice start crust, but not burn

served the briyani with mint sauces, cucumber and yogurt.

I like Shan-brand seasoning.
Definitely will try another pack too.

Easy Chicken Curry

Assalamualaikum, Ramadhan is just counting the day.
Siapa masih hutang puasa *tunjuk jari....
he he.. tak pe.. tak pe.. slow slow kita bayar sama-sama,
Janji disiplin, dan cepat-cepat bayar

Nasib baik Tuhan tak bagi interest,
kalau ada interest...pengsan semua X_X

Ramadhan is always feel nicer and special with home cooking.
Another easy recipe I love to share for low-skilled-cook-mamasan :P

The secret of nice curry is:
- be generous with the amount of spices, garlic and onion.
- I like to pan fried chicken before cook into another dish, to give smoky feeling and to make it less soggy.

Ingredients:
1/2 chicken, cut into 4. pan fried to let the skin dry and crispy.
1 big onion, chopped
5 cloves garlic, chopped
10 dried curry leaves
1 table spoon curry powder
1/2 cup coconut milk (I use fresh milk)
1 cup water

5 chili
1 pack coriander leaves
1 ripen tomato

- 1 table spoon cooking oil, fried mustard seeds (biji sawi, kata orang kita)
- add in chopped onion, garlic, and stir for couple min.
- Add in curry powder, stir again.
- Add in water and potato, leave till boil.
- Put in Chicken and coconut milk. Cook until chicken tender

- Couple minutes before served, add in chopped tomato

Served with sprinkle of coriander leaves

Dinner for two is served with steamed rice (pardon me the ugly pot on table, lol)
and stir fried vegetable

Langkawi Short Trip: Day 3 and Day 4

Basically dah malas menulis,
dah bosan..... cerita dah basi... haha

On the Day 3 we spent roam around Langkawi Island

Biking to Datai and have some late breakfast

watch the nice swimming pool
(I want to swim all of the sudden lol...)
Swimming pool in my condo is even bigger, yet I seldom touch it

Walk to Seven Wells
It only took the low waterfalls cos the weather was too hot
(and I was too lazy of course)

The lunch took a very far from what we went,
Its around hour ride scooter to north.
We heading Tanjung Aru

yes, Scarborough is a must visit when we go to Langkawi.
You will love their Fish 'n Chips

Yumm....
The best thing ever
Its fresh, well seasoned, well cook
Restaurant quality fish and chips.

You can choose any fish you want, either pan fried, deep fried, or bake :-)

What we did the whole day was roam around Langkawi island with the scooter.
The sun lotion seems doesn't really work,
We arrived at the hotel with hot-fever-cold feeling
(it was between dehydration and sun-burn)

Sun burn
One turn into steamed lobster, one turn into dark coating chocolate.

The next day, we just checked out, lunch and waiting taxi to the airport

Our lunch in Little Mexican.
Different with Three Amigos next door where we were so disappointed with the food quality,
Little Mexico is nice. I had my bean salad, well seasoned and arrived in decent amount of bean, vegetable and dressing.

Mr order lunch burritos, which also nice. Spicy enough to satisfy my tongue, and nice herbed rice too.

I admired the exterior and how they make water-balinese style garden

Love the walls decoration and old outdoor-indoor bench too

Taxi arrived 20 mins later, and we are heading back to Kuala Lumpur
See you again Langkawi
